When most people think of theme park food, they think hotdogs and funnel cakes. Disney World is truly the leader when it comes to fantastic theme park food. They have everything from fine dining to famous snacks such as a Dole Whip or a Mickey Bar. With so much to see and do at Disney, eating at quick service eatery makes for a speedy but delicious meal! One of my favorite quick service places to eat is Flame Tree Barbecue found at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. If you haven’t eaten here yet, it is a must and here are my reasons why.
Those ribs and pulled pork sandwiches though! I live in Virginia and one thing Virginia loves the most is barbecue! So when I’m on vacation, I usually have a craving for barbecue and Flame Tree is the best on Disney Property. The ribs, pulled pork sandwich and the home-made bake beans are my favorites from the menu. Once you walk by Flame Tree and smell the smoked meats, you won’t be able to resist! (Unless smoked meat is not your thing. They only have two vegetarian food options here.)
Location, location, location- Flame Tree Barbecue is located on Discovery Isle, next to the entrance to Dinoland USA. Even though there is no indoor seating for this eatery, it has one of my favorite dining areas. Once you grab your food, you walk along the side of the building and you will find lots of waterside seating with some beautifully carved pavilion areas to sit at. Even though it’s just steps away from the hustle and bustle of Discovery Island, you would never know it by how peaceful the eating area is. There are also great views of Mount Everest as well!
Prices- Because this is a quick service eatery, you can expect the prices to be reasonable. The combo platters are $20 and under but the portions are big enough to split if you want more bang for your buck. The prices for the kid’s meals are the same as other Disney quick service meals. My only complaint is that there is only one dessert option. Although, I’m usually too full for dessert after all that delicious barbecue!
