Summer will always be my favorite time of the year. I love the heat but one of my favorite ways to cool off is at water parks. I have been to some really fun water parks over the years but the Disney Water Parks will always be my favorites. Walt Disney World currently has two water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. I have been to and love them both so here are the reasons why these water parks are the best!
Cool Off Anytime of the Year- Only in Florida will find outdoor water parks open year round. The pools are heated to keep the water enjoyable in the cooler months. Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach briefly take a turn each to shut down for refurbishment during one or two months in the winter. So no matter what time of the year, you will always be able to have some fun at least one of the Disney water parks! How great does it sound to float down a lazy river in the middle of January?
Theming- Both of Disney’s water parks have distinct theming throughout. Typhoon Lagoon is a tropical paradise the was created after an “epic storm.” There are lots of shady palms and beach areas for families to relax on as well as a meandering lazy river. Blizzard Beach is themed to a ski resort that is melting in the Florida heat. There is lots of “snow” covered rocks and a ski lift in the park. Disney always does theming the best so you can bet that these themes carry through out the parks.
Best rides- My favorite water park ride of all time is at Typhoon Lagoon. It’s the Crush ‘N’ Gusher and it’s an amazingly fun water coaster. There are three different slide choices that your coaster can go down on and it’s family friendly! Both Disney Water Parks also have the best lazy rivers as far as length and relaxation.
Size of the Parks- I have been to water parks that were all in one room to one of the largest water parks in the mid-Atlantic. Both Disney Water parks are moderate in size but to me, that’s juuuust right. You won’t have to walk forever to get from ride to the next and everything still stays on theme so you it feels cohesive as you wander around.
Unique Activities- All water parks will have a large pool, water slides, tube slides and a kiddie area. But Disney goes the extra mile and has at least one unique activity to their water parks. Typhoon Lagoon has a surfing program that you can sign up for to learn how to surf or have a surfing session before the park opens. At Blizzard Beach, they have mini golf that is winter-themed right outside of the park.
So these are just a few of the reasons why I love Disney Water Parks so much. I have another article about Disney Water Parks you can read here. You can go to either of these water parks by paying for separate admission, getting season pass or upgrading your Park Hopper Passes to a Disney Park Hopper Plus Option. Have you ever been to any of the Disney Water Parks?
